Bay State Beer Company: Time Traveler Mai Bock

History
Three guys with over 70 years of brewing knowledge getting
together to make Beer better. Chip, Conor and Shawn are gearing up to start full
production of Bay State Beer Co. We currently are brewing small runs in a
Massachusetts basement brewery in Sturleicesterville, MA and have product
available in keg and 6 packs.
Great Beer should be interesting, inviting and refreshing - both distinctive and
drinkable. Our mission is to make Great Beer!
A New World Classic, Bay State's Mai Bock is a big bright
golden malty lager. Easy drinking and warming with substantial body and mouth
feel and just a hint of sweetness. Made from generous amounts of Pilsner and
Vienna malts, Bohemian hops and Bavarian lager yeast.
What to expect:
Pour: Poured a golden yellow with a very small white head that
disappeared very quickly and left slight traces of lace on the walls of the
glass.
Aroma: Grassy and slightly hoppy aromas, as well as some
slightly sweet malt. Has the aroma of Spring in the background.
Smell: Sweet and malty in a grainy way, rather sweet. A
sharper, yeasty note and a little spice is there as well. Alcohol is evident
too.
Taste: Proof that a beer of nearly 8% alcohol by volume can
actually be refreshing. Lots of bready, dusty German malt flavor balanced with
just enough hop bitterness and flavors of lemon and herbs, with plenty of
peppery alcohol in the finish.
Mouth Feel: Light to medium bodied and lightly carbonated, very
smooth to drink.
Drinkability: This isn't what I expected from a Mai Bock, but
it was definitely a drinkable, easy to like beer. Reminded me of Spaten's
Mai Bock.
